Volunteering Opportunities 2009

Culzean Castle is one of Scotland's iconic visitor attractions and we are currently seeking volunteer Room Stewards to join our friendly and enthusiastic team who help the National Trust for Scotland showcase this fine Robert Adam castle overlooking the Clyde. Room Stewards help welcome visitors from all over the world and share their knowledge and stories to enhance the visitor experience offered. This role is ideal for someone with 1, 2 or 3 days to soare each week, who enjoys meeing new people and would like to see behind the scenes at this magnificent property.

Day-to-day support will be given by Property Staff and our Volunteers work closely with experienced Castle Guides to ensure they are provided with all the information and training necessary for this role. No prior knowledge or experience is needed but an interest and enthusiasm for the history of Scotland and its people is very helpful. Good spoken communication skills are essential.

Amongst the benefits of volunteering with the National Trust for Scotland, Culzean Castle, is the opportunity to learn about people and buildings of historic and cultural significance, along with meeting people from all over the world. Volunteers are also entitled to a Volunteer Card (after 40 hours volunteering), which gives the cardholder free entry to all NTS properties, along with a 20% discount in NTS retail outlets.

Potential Volunteers without their own transport should please note Culzean Castle is approximately 1 mile form the nearest bus stop, which involves a steep climb when leaving the estate.
